Buying the Best Printer for your needs

With so many different models of printers on the market today, how do you know which printer to buy?

After all, if you buy the wrong type of printer, you may not be able to complete your printing job as needed.  Here are some tips that can help you decide what type of printer to buy that best suits your needs.

Decide what functions you need
Before you even walk into a store to buy a printer, decide what functions you need.  Listed below are some typical functions of different types of printers.

• Scanning – Do you need to scan documents on a frequent basis?  If so, consider buying a printer with a scanning option.
• Color printing – If you need color copies, a printer with a color coping function is a must.
• Professional photo printing – Do you need to make high quality copies or copies for everyday use?  If you need to provide copies of a high caliber, then a professional photo-printing machine would make more sense.
• Double-sided printing – If you need to make a lot of double sided copies, then you should consider purchasing a double-sided coping machine.  Otherwise, you’ll be spending twice the amount of time copying papers.
• Faxing – Do you send a lot of hard copy faxes?  Then a printer that has a fax feature might be worth your while.
• Laser printer – If you plan to make a lot of copies, consider a laser printer.  They’re much faster than a regular ink-jet printer, plus the cartridges last longer.

Decide upon a budget
You might want to buy the Cadillac of printers, but if it’s not within your budget, there’s no need to look any further.  Decide what features you must have and then conduct some research online as to what makes and models are within your price range.  You can even research specific models that fit within our budget in online product reviews so that you can really get an idea about the device before you make that purchase.

Test the product if possible
Some stores will let you test their copiers so that you can get a real feel for the device.  This can give you a real good idea if the product will serve your needs or not.
