Buying a Touch Screen Laptop – is it worth it?

Buying a Touch Screen Laptop – is it worth it?If you’re a techie junkie, you might be in the market for one of the most interesting office equipment devices – the touch screen laptop.

Though it sounds a bit “futuristic,” it has recently made its debut in the computer marketplace.  It might not be for everyone, but if peaks your curiosity, here are some of the pros and cons of purchasing this most interesting type of equipment.

Pros
The biggest advantage to owning this type of laptop is that it’s an attention getter.  With a touch screen laptop, you’ll probably be the first of your co-workers to own such a device.  Just imagine the buss when you’re in business meetings with new or existing customers.

Another huge plus with owning a touch screen laptop is that you don’t have to be a great typist (or know how to type at all).  Simply use the laptop’s stylus “pen” to write and it’s automatically converted into digital form.  No more need to worry about those endless hours of typing away on a keyboard, hurting your fingers in the process.  It can also relieve any carpel tunnel syndrome that you might be experiencing since you won’t have to place your hands in one position on the keyboard all day long.

And forget about using that inconvenient touchpad or that awkward mouse by your side.  Simply use the stylus or even your finger to open and close files or to paste and copy information.  In other words, it’s similar to using a touch pad iPhone.

Cons
Though the advantages sound appealing, there are a few negatives.  For starters, the price can be quite exorbitant since it’s cutting edge technology and it hasn’t been out on the market a long time.  And since you’re touching the screen all day long, fingerprints can be an issue.  But perhaps the biggest disadvantage is the inconvenience or uncomfortable feeling of having to reach for the laptop screen.  However, the newer models are coming out with screens that can pivot around for easier access, which means less stress on your hands and fingers.
